Hartman's plays, which include
Donna Wants (2006), Going Gone (2004), Leah's
Train (2000), Girl Under
Grain (2000), Alice:
Tales of a Curious Girl (1999) and Gum (1999), have
been mounted by more than 40 companies. She wrote the libretto for
the Grahm Reynolds opera Motherbone (2002). Honors include
the Daryl Roth Creative Spirit Award, a Hodder Fellowship, a Fulbright
Scholarship, a Playwrights' Center
Jerome Fellowship and a writing residency at London's Royal National
Theatre.
Karen and I met in college and reunited in New York for our interview
in 2005.
